I don't believe it is 70 yards. The Premiership handbook says that dimensions must be submitted prior to the season and then they are included in the handbook. 68m is 74 yards not 70. So if anyone can tell me a good reason why the official Premiership handbook is wrong, I will listen. But its seems pretty clear cut to me.

There was a Premiership rule put in 2012 that said all pitches should conform to UEFA standards (105m x 68m) unless the team could show the League that the stadium could not accommodate it. So I would guess most of them are close to that now.
